On August 6, the British Chamber of Commerce South China (BritCham South China) hosted the launch of British Business in China: Position Paper 2026 in Guangzhou, bringing together over 30 professionals from manufacturing, finance, legal, and media sectors to explore business and investment opportunities across South China, especially in Guangdong.

Harry Bell, Government Affairs Manager of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, introduced the eighth edition of the paper, which sets out 46 recommendations spanning eight sectors including advanced manufacturing, energy, financial services, education, and legal services. Closely aligned with China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) and the UK's ten-year Industrial Strategy, the paper identifies new room for China-UK cooperation in life sciences, clean energy and industrial innovation.

Sarah Mann, British Consul-General in Guangzhou, described warming China-UK ties as "a new beginning," stressing that public-private collaboration underpins the bilateral relationship.

Mark Clayton, Chair of BritCham South China, highlighted Guangdong's robust export growth and noted that South China is now the fastest-growing region for British businesses in China.
