One out of every five motorcycles exported from China comes from Jiangmen, a city in Guangdong Province. In 2025, the city's motorcycle exports hit 19.27 billion RMB, accounting for about a quarter of the national total. 

Behind those numbers is Guangdong Tayo Motorcycle Technology Co., Ltd., whose output value has soared 120 percent since 2020. The company now ranks fourth in domestic sales and third in exports nationwide.

Xie Sheng, Managing Director of the company, credits a recent championship win by a local racing team for putting the industry in the spotlight. But he says Tayo's growth was built on years of technical refinement, not short-term hype.

The company's first international break came through the Canton Fair. "We used to travel overseas, hunting for customers," Xie recalls. "Now customers come to us." Tayo appoints only one exclusive distributor per country. Its motorcycles are now sold in Thailand and Spain. In Thailand, customers typically wait three to four months after placing an order.

Tayo was also the first company in Jiangmen to obtain Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, recognized by more than 70 countries. "When our goods leave Chinese customs, we enjoy the lowest inspection rate," Xie said. "Clearance is fast and reliable."

But the key edge is technological. Tayo is the first Chinese company to mass-produce motorcycle frames using aluminium alloy high-vacuum gigacasting, a technique previously used only for premium bikes priced above 100,000 RMB by brands such as Honda and Yamaha. Tayo has made it standard on its 150cc series.

"What we're setting out to build are the best motorcycles in the world, ones that ordinary people can genuinely afford," Xie says. From chasing customers at trade fairs to seeing buyers queue up for its products, Tayo is writing a new chapter in Guangdong's manufacturing story.
