Former Sites of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and CPC Northern Guangdong Provincial Committee
In October 1938, when Guangzhou fell to Japanese invaders, the Guangdong Government relocated to Shaoguan, which became the wartime provincial capital. Simultaneously, the organs of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee also made their move to Shaoguan. Operating covertly at various locations, they unified and led the populace in a challenging four-year counter-Japanese resistance and salvation campaign behind enemy lines, ultimately elevating Guangdong to one of the three battlegrounds in China.
Currently, the former sites of the provincial party committee offices at Wuli Pavilion, Hongwei, and Yaokeng are collectively known as the former sites of the provincial party committee offices of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Northern Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.
After extensive protection and restoration efforts, these sites have been progressively opened to the public, assuming significant roles in the promotion of patriotic culture and the preservation of the revolutionary spirit.
