From March 4 to 5, the Africa Day 2026 & the Guangdong (Jiangmen) - Africa Economic, Trade and Cultural Exchange Event was held in Jiangmen, a renowned hometown of overseas Chinese.

Representatives of African countries' consulates general in Guangzhou showed great interest in "Made-in-Jiangmen" coffee utensils.
Consuls General and representatives from the consulates general of 10 African countries in Guangzhou visited Jiangmen and embarked on a two-day study tour.
"This is a city worthy of in-depth exploration and investment cooperation, full of surprises everywhere." The comment of Mairo Musa Abbas, Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou, echoed the common voice of the African Consulates during the trip.
Seeking potential partnerships in the aroma of coffee
Amid the aroma of coffee, the representatives of the African Consulates in Guangzhou walked into the venue of the 4th Jiangmen Coffee Culture Festival. This event, gathering more than 330 well-known coffee brands and champion baristas from over 40 cities in 13 countries and regions, not only showcased a full industrial chain of coffee products, such as premium coffee, raw materials and equipment, but also featured the participation of African coffee brands from countries including Uganda and Ethiopia.
Kamano Faya Michel Sidiki, Deputy Consul General of Guinea in Guangzhou, had a clear purpose for his trip, namely, to understand the current development of China's coffee industry and seek cooperation opportunities.
"The coffee capsules and equipment I saw on-site are all quality products in the industry. These devices can help upgrade and transform Guinea's coffee industry," he said. He hoped to use this opportunity to build an initial cooperation bridge between Guinean companies and enterprises in Jiangmen.
Khatibu Makenga, Consul General of Tanzania in Guangzhou, has visited Jiangmen many times, but participating in the coffee festival was a "first experience". He observed that the acceptance and consumption frequency of coffee among the new generation of Chinese consumers are on the rise. As one of the world's major coffee producers, Tanzania has huge room for cooperation with Jiangmen in processing, packaging, marketing and other links.
Makenga said, "There are many remarkable achievements at this coffee festival, and I also look forward to carrying out more cooperation with Jiangmen's coffee equipment producers to add more value to Tanzania's coffee products."
When "Made-in-Jiangmen" products meet African demands
Beyond the coffee, the delegation also visited the China Qiaodu Museum of Overseas Chinese, the Jiangmen Premium Foreign Trade Products Promotion event, and local companies.
At the Jiangmen Premium Foreign Trade Products Promotion event, a wide range of quality products, such as motorcycles, stainless steel tableware, plumbing and sanitary ware, and export food, were on display.
Khatibu Makenga stopped at the booth displaying home appliances and enthusiastically bought two trendy small fans. "It has a fashionable design and is easy to carry. The wind that blows is very cool. I plan to keep one for myself and give one to a friend. I will buy more next time I come," said Makenga.
When visiting the coffee machine manufacturer CINO, Sandra Cardoso, Deputy Consul of Angola in Guangzhou, bought a coffee machine on the spot with the help of Kansaye Issa, Deputy Consul General of Mali in Guangzhou.
Kansaye Issa not only kindly helped with the purchase but also saw the potential for long-term cooperation. He said, "We can come to buy more next time. Local manufacturers can also bring coffee machines to Africa; we welcome them very much. I also hope the Jiangmen government can visit Africa and explore further cooperation."
In recent years, Jiangmen's exchanges with African countries have become increasingly close, continuously promoting the export of "Made-in-Jiangmen" products such as household appliances and motorcycles to African countries. Data show that in 2025, Jiangmen's import and export volume with Africa reached 16.6 billion yuan, a substantial increase of 45.9 percent.
