The "Greater Bay Chick" tour map was released during the "Greater Bay Chick" New Year themed press conference in Guangzhou on December 28, while the plans to launch the "Greater Bay Chick" Olympic Carnival at Guangdong Olympic Sports Center South Square in early February 2026 were also announced.

"Greater Bay Chick" embarks on nationwide tour

Officially, the mascot pair are stylized Chinese white dolphins named Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, created to commemorate the 15th National Games jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. However, Chinese netizens, amused by their chubby bodies, pointy little beaks, and the crest-like splash of color on their heads, dubbed them the "Greater Bay Chick".

According to Huang Bin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Guangzhou Culture Group, the second-generation Guangzhou acrobatics-featured "Greater Bay Chick" has gained immense popularity since its debut across Guangzhou's streets, parks, campuses, and cultural venues following the conclusion of China's 15th National Games.

The mascots will embark on a nationwide tour, appearing on China's major media outlets, and traveling to Hong Kong, Harbin, and Hohhot to show their cute charm and convey Guangzhou's enthusiasm. They will also be featured in events during the upcoming Spring Festival, such as spring flower markets and fireworks displays to celebrate the Chinese New Year with Guangzhou's residents.

Huang emphasized: "We'll also organize regular fan meetups at Guangzhou Acrobatic Art Theatre in Shaheding, offering fans the opportunity to interact closely with the mascots. In addition, the 'Greater Bay Chick' themed car, which went viral during the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Parade, will also be available for public visits and photo opportunities."

"Greater Bay Chick" Olympic Carnival offers immersive experience

The "Greater Bay Chick" Olympic Carnival, co-developed by Guangzhou Culture Group and Guangzhou High-Tech Group, aims to showcase the mascots' charm while preserving the cultural legacy of the 15th National Games. The carnival is set to open for trial operation in early February 2026 at Guangdong Olympic Sports Center South Square, and it will feature these characteristic zones:

"Greater Bay Chick" Theatre: Featuring international circus performances blending the mascots' cuteness with dazzling acts.

Aoyu Fish Exhibition Zone: Displays the restored opening-ceremony Aoyu fish, symbolizing "success" in the Year of the Horse.

Dome Cinema & Interactive Zones: Offers immersive entertainment.

Cultural & Culinary Zones: Highlights Olympic heritage, trendy merchandise, and local delicacies.

Heritage Photo Spots: Commemorates the iconic moments of the 15th National Games.
