Located at the junction of Guangzhou and Huizhou, Nankun Mountain and Luofu Mountain serve as a key ecological barrier for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Winding between the two mountains, "Guangdong's Most Beautiful Tourist Highway" opened to traffic in late June 2025. The mountain highway stretches 218 kilometers, weaving through 9 towns and linking over 200 scenic spots, forming the Nankunshan-Luofushan Rim Pioneer Zone. Join GO Guangdong on a journey: follow the Highway to explore its stunning landscapes and see how nature has fueled local economic growth.

Guangdong's Most Beautiful Tourist Highway
Our first stop is Xialang Stream Stopover in Changning Town, Boluo County. Nestled among bamboo forests and streams, the station offers visitors a unique "Stream-Foot Coffee" experience. Here you can also brew your own cup by the water. Then, visitors can seamlessly transit to Luofu Mountain Scenic Area and Fusheng Six Seasons Ecological Park.

The layout combining highway and stopover has drastically shortened travel times between counties, towns, and villages. Furthermore, it fosters resource sharing across the region.

Next, we will reach the Xiangang Reservoir Stopover, a splendid structure designed in the style of the Song Dynasty. On sunny days, the best way to soak up the scenery is to rent an electric bike for a lakeside ride. "Weekends are busy. We can rent out 50 to 60 bikes just in the afternoon," said a staff member at the bike rental service.

Near this stop stands the Henghe Sports Town, which is developing outdoor sports facilities, including stand-up paddle boarding and rock climbing. In the future, it will offer 39 outdoor activities, including forest hiking and trail running, which is expected to be a must-visit for adventure enthusiasts.

Thanks to its idyllic scenery, the town attracts crowds of tourists on weekdays and holidays, who come to cycle or ride motorcycles. Well-equipped with homestays, the town has partnered with a local cultural tourism group to revitalize village houses. The group rents properties from villagers, uniformly renovates their exteriors, and transforms them into resort-style homestay clusters. This model has effectively revitalized idle resources and created shared wealth.

"I live on the first floor and rent out the floors above," shared Ms. Sun, a local villager. "The homestay increases my income by 3,000 yuan every month!"

Continuing along the highway, we will reach the Millennium Banyan Literary Village. Here, literary-themed mazes and cafes await visitors. The buildings feature rooflines that mimic open books, and even the river-crossing bridge resembles a turning page. According to staff at the scenic area, the highway has significantly boosted visitor numbers, with over 10,000 visitors daily on weekends. The village's collective income reached 224,400 yuan last year and surpassed 490,000 yuan in the first three quarters of this year alone.
More than just a convenient transportation link, the Highway has become a catalyst for economic development. Newly built homestays and restaurants line its sides, while clean rural roads and modern facilities reflect the vibrant momentum of rural revitalization. More wonders await your exploration.
