"Guangzhou is an excellent window on global trade. Trade benefits many sides and will ultimately help improve people's lives." Aminath Namza, chairperson of Public Service Media (PSM) in the Maldives, commented when visiting the Nansha Port Phase IV Container Terminal of Guangzhou Port.

Statistics show Guangdong's foreign trade volume hit 8.72 trillion RMB in the first three quarters of 2026, up 24.5 percent year on year. In the third quarter, its foreign trade scale exceeded 3 trillion RMB for the first time, setting a new all-time high. Earlier in September, journalists from the Asia-Pacific region embarked on a visit to Guangdong for the Asia-Pacific Media Forum (APMF).

Nansha Port Phase IV Container Terminal of Guangzhou Port is located on Longxue Island, Nansha District. It officially commenced operations in 2022. The project is a fully automated terminal featuring the world's first river-sea-rail multimodal transportation system and the largest horizontal layout. It pioneered Beidou navigation-powered unmanned intelligent guided vehicles while incorporating a globally leading information system for intelligent automated terminals.

Nguyen Dong Anh, acting dean of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, spoke highly of how automation and robots streamline operations and reduce risks to workers.

"Vietnam can learn from the terminal's experience," said Bui Minh Long, editor-in-chief of Vietnam's Tien Phong newspaper. He also hopes to see stronger cooperation with China in cold chain and logistics.

The Guangzhou Nansha International Logistics Center stands on the inland side of the Nansha Phase III Container Terminal, covering 320,000 square meters in total. Located in the South Zone of the Center, Nansha Cold Chain is China's leading single-unit port-adjacent cold storage facility which integrates the entire agricultural product supply chain while striving to provide efficient, safe, and low-cost logistics for imported fruits.

According to the Nansha Cold Chain, the facility has attracted renowned global shipping companies, including Maersk and COSCO, to launch the "Cherry Express" and "Durian Express" routes in Nansha. As Guangzhou Port's role as the Greater Bay Area's chilled-fruit gateway becomes more evident, Nansha Port has developed into one of China's largest ports for cherry imports and fresh durian imports by sea.
