The Shenzhen Children's Park, the city's oldest municipal park dedicated to children, has reopened recently following a comprehensive upgrade, bringing back a beloved landmark that carries 39 years of childhood memories for local residents.

First opened in 1987, the 6.06-hectare (about 60,600 square meters) park now features six themed play zones designed for children of all ages. The park's iconic elephant slide has been preserved and reinforced, while the classic Chinese zodiac sculptures have been relocated to the North Gate area.

The Zishu Sand Mine, China's first dynamic micro-terrain sand playground, offers 12 climbing passages for younger children. 

The Horse Playground features a 3D zodiac-themed maze and an aerial climbing complex with over 120 exploration modules. 

The Trail Stroll features a low-altitude forest adventure trail integrating multi-functions including balance training, physical fitness exercise, as well as social interaction.

The Forest Exploration zone builds tree-top climbing nets around mature trees, all fitted with double-layer safety nets, while the Stream Valley Water Park transforms the park's original lake area into an interactive playground with water slides, fountains and mist features.

For thrill-seekers, the Elephant Adventure Kingdom houses 20 powered rides, including a drop tower, a roller coaster and a sightseeing train, with tickets priced from 9 to 19 RMB.

Admission: Free. All unpowered facilities are free of charge.

Opening hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (mechanical rides zone: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
